Ibiza Town and Area
The capital of the island and originally the only place big enough to be described as a town, “Ibiza Town”, also known as Eivissa, can be divided into 4 main areas. Dalt Villa, Sa Penya, La Marina and Marina Botafoch. All are in easy walking distance of each other as they are centred on Ibiza's natural harbour. The walled old town is built on a promontory jutting out into the sea overlooking the bulk of the East coast. The silhouette of the city and the cathedral at the top are recognised globally as icons of the island.
Sa Penya&La Marina, roll into one area and you will hardly notice that you have passed from one to the other. Here you can stroll through the winding lanes, soaking up the vibrant, atmosphere of Ibiza by night; browse the many and varied stalls and designer shops or dine in one of the many restaurants for a moment of blissful calm amidst the action. This area is where you can also witness the almost nightly infamous nightclub street parades, with their motley crew of drag queens, models and circus performers!
From here wander up through the cobbled streets to Dalt Villa, the oldest part of the island of Ibiza and admire the stunning views across the bay. From the moment you enter the fortified walls, you will be impressed by the buildings and the steep narrow cobbled streets built long before any thought of motor cars and therefore only accessible on foot. At the top you’ll find the old castle which used to be the basis of life in Ibiza and in the maze of streets you will also find a picturesque 12th Century Cathedral with spectacular views over Ibiza Town, the Marina, Botafoch and Talamaca.
The marina and Botafoch are the Monaco of Ibiza and are home to the Yacht Club and is where many luxury apartments are located. It is in this area that you can stroll and see the multi-million pound yachts that are harboured outside El Divino nightclub. A little further along you’ll find trendy Restaurants and hip boutiques. Just behind this area is located Pacha, Ibiza's most famous and trendy nightclub.
Jesus
Jesus is conveniently located just 5 kilometres from Ibiza town, 8 kilometres from Cala Llonga and 15 kilometres from Santa Eulalia. The village is located in the northern part of old Ibiza town. The current town centre has grown in the shadow of the small church, built in the 15th century. Nowadays it is a famous wedding venue for celebrities. Opposite the church is a restaurant which is the meeting point of the locals as well as international ex- patriots who have chosen this area as their home. Next door there is an international newspaper stand, a butcher, pharmacy and a Thai restaurant. The nearest beach of Talamanca is heading towards Ibiza town, about 3 kilometres away and it is a long wide beach, lined with restaurant and bars. San Rafael
The small traditional village of San Rafael is located on a hill that divides the island at the heart of Ibiza. The majority of the village’s population live in the surrounding countryside as San Rafael itself comprises of little more than 2 streets and a church.
Nowadays by-passed by the main Ibiza to San Antonio road, it is mostly a quiet retreat with a handful of international restaurants and known as a stop to watch the fabulous sunsets over San Antonio. The surrounding area is both tranquil and picturesque however San Rafael is also the nearest village to two of the island's most famous nightclubs, Amnesia and Privilege. San Rafael is an ideal base from which to be able to relax and soak up the Ibithenco way of life but without being too far away from amenities as the main resort of San Antonio and trendy Ibiza Town and the nearest beach of Talamanca are just nine kilometres away.
